DitD 17 lone wanderer

I grabbed my water bottle and began to squeeze a little. The crackle from the bottle as it was being squeezed. I played with bottles jacket. The plastic was disconnected on one end which meant that I could play with the end. I picked it up at the last stop. I looked in the rearview mirror. Not there. I was hoping that he wouldn't be there but was kind of hoping that he was there. The hardest part was thinking about who or what was that thing. I'm sure that it was just my imagination.
"Still pondering my existence?" I said to my self trying to sound like the voice. I began to shake my head. "Dumbest shit in the world"
"You sound nothing like me" Brandon said. "Shit, your vocabulary is limited and barely passible in modern society. Is this what the world is like now? What happened to simple brevity?"
"God you suck, My fucking vocabulary is on the table for discussion now?" I asked.
"Well when you talk like the apes you evolved alongside, Yes your vernacular is on the table." He said with the sarcasm dripping from his chapped lips. "I could always go back to discussing your sexual proclivities."
"Why do you have to be gross?" I asked. He appeared as only a mouth and a hand levitating in the passenger seat. I could feel his arm resting on the windowsill. "Besides you were more entertained by discussing murder."
"Oh, that's true..." He said smiling that disgusting smile. "You actually seemed more entertained by the concept of murder yourself. What did you enjoy more? The murder or the act of murder."
"I had no interest in the murder. I am a law abiding citizen." I said.
"Law abiding citizens don't drive out of town to get a burger and then drive off handing the clerk a check from a closed account." Brandon said. "Hide your true feelings all you want I will get it out of you."
"And how will you manage that?" I asked.
"Watch the sky." Brandon said. The sky started to get dark but no clouds appeared. In a weird twist the sky almost appeared red. "I'm not done, check this out."
The radio chirped, "Hey, are you guys seeing this sky?" It was the driver of the gas powered truck.
The radio chirped again, "It's gorgeous and truly shows the existence of god."
"Was it a god or was it me?" Brandon scoffed but this time from the back seat. I could almost see him laying down with his head leaning against the window and feet behind my seat. "if I can change the sky don't you think I could change your perception and get you to reveal your truest self?"
"For what reason?" I asked, "If you are all powerful wouldn't you be able to know that I am law abiding or not?"
"It's not for me." Brandon said leaning forward towards me, "Your sheltered existence is sad in its self-delusion of grandeur." Brandon was full of shit. I was a good person and I didn't need to hide shit from anyone. That check was still good when I wrote it and I drove there because I heard they had the best burgers. "Still lying to yourself?" Brandon said sitting back on the bench. "That's ok. I tell you what, it's a long journey. Why don't you pick the next topic. I swear I won't argue or dismiss it. In fact, I am starting to like you."
"Fuck it, if you must be my companion then I guess we should discuss some ground rules, no sex talk and no murder talk." I said firmly.
"I'll bite on the sex talk but murder is still on the menu." Brandon said.
"Why can't we talk about other things like drinking, or music?" I asked.
"We can but murder is never off the table. Remember, I could talk about whatever I want and you can't stop me as you can't even find me." Brandon said reaffirming his power.
"I could quit this job and go home where you weren't around." I said trying to get the high ground.
"Ooh... You think you have me there but I am not tied to the truck or the tech. I am tied to you." Brandon laughed.
"Then why didn't I see you before?" I asked.
"My god you are dull. I chose my moment wisely." Brandon added. "The electric truck needs to top up."
"What are you talking about?" I asked.
"Hey guys. we need to stop. I am running out of charge and need a top up." The radio chirped.
"Where is your god now?" Brandon laughed. "Well I guess this is goodbye until we hit the road again. Wouldn't want you to be seen as a crazy person... Yet..."
"What do you mean, yet?" I asked but I didn't receive a reply.
