“Alright Steve, if you are concerned then…” I said over the radio. The hairs on my neck began to stand on end. It felt as though someone was watching us. I spun around quickly and my pulse began to quicken. Next to the alter stood the nice Nun that we spoke to earlier.
“If I’m concerned then what?” Steve replied on the radio.
“Concerned about what?” She asked.
“Hello…” Steve said again.
“About… About… Sorry, excuse me… About our friend Tom. He went missing.” I said.
“Hello?… Jesus. Do I have to do everything myself?” Steve said pissed off at the lack of response.
“Wait one.” Pat said over the comms.
“The gruff one slightly shorter and portly? Looks like he shaves daily but with a million year old razor?” The nun said quietly.
“You know what they say about nails and heads?” I asked and the nun shook her head from side to side. “Well anyways, yes. That’s him.”
“He said ‘F this, I’m going to the gas station to get something to f ing drink’” she said calmly.
“Sounds like Tom.” I said.
“Is there anything else?” She asked.
“No?” I said confused.
“Good, please be sure and follow the abbesses instructions. I would hate for her to get mad. I will check on you periodically to ensure you have everything you need.” She said in her sweetest voice. It felt fake and almost painful to hear.
“Ok.” I said turning to look at Pat. Pat shrugged and when I turned back around she was gone. She disappeared without a trace. “Tom went to get something to drink. If this was the Army…” I started to say over the radio before I was rudely interrupted by Steve.
“Then riddle me this Batman? Why is his phone still in the church?” The hairs on my neck only now started to relax though my adrenaline was still heightened. Something bizarre was going on and I was starting to lose my grip on reality. Maybe it was nothing or maybe something was seriously wrong with this church. It seemed to effect us differently. I was having daydreams about this place. Pat was panicking. Tom was more irritable. Steve seemed in effected. I will need to figure out why or what the effect is before I can solve this riddle.
