DitD 19 ghost hunters

“Steve why don’t you meet us inside?” I asked. My surroundings seemed amplified as if someone had turn the volume to maximum. But I couldn’t hear the people around me as if I was wearing headphones. I felt the need to take a knee but I couldn’t move. I glanced over to Pat who seemed frozen in fear himself. His eyes were glued to the statue of Jesus. I swung my head around to look and the statue was no longer in the t-pose. It was hunched in on itself with blood dripping from its eyes and hands.

“Are you serious? You want me in there?” Steve asked concerned. At this point I didn’t want to be in here but we needed to find our fourth member.

“Yes, asap.” I replied. I couldn’t get my eyes off the statue. Suddenly the statue began to move. It rotated its head towards Pat. It’s icy glare directed perfectly at Pat.  Then it slowly began to move back into the t-pose for which was most common in Catholic Churches. I felt a strong grab of my should. Out of terror I swung my head and simultaneously reached to grab the hand off my shoulder. It was Steve. “Fuck!” I yelled startled.

“Calm down. It’s just me.” Steve said quietly. “I have a few routers set up to ping and triangulate Tom’s phone. To narrow the location down to a few feet.” This was an old army intel trick. I pulled out my phone and set the signal to narrow it further. Steve moved around in the nave slowly and deliberately. Steve stopped and looked around. “Here.” Steve said. Steve bent down and pulled out a red flashlight. The red light helped to prevent from shocking your eyes and causing them to lose their night vision. Steve grabbed in the darkness and pulled out a phone.

“Wait a minute,” I said confused. “What the hell is that doing here? Tom was never in the nave. Tom didn’t even come and check the layout before we started. So how did his phone get in here?”

“I’m well aware,” Steve said.

“This is a joke. Isn’t it?” Pat asked. “Very funny, let’s all make the medium feel like a jerk.” Steve and I shook our heads. The floor began to creak behind me as if under the pressure of heavy footsteps. Steve was frozen in place staring behind me. I glanced at Pat who had fallen silent and was also staring behind me. I slowly looked behind me. Behind me was a shadow creature. It stood about seven feet tall. But I could see right through it. I felt something push me and a flew almost eight feet to be right next to Steve. The shadow figure dissipated

“What the fuck was that?” Steve asked. I had no idea. It couldn’t have been real. But then how did I get pushed?

“Maybe the cameras have a clue as to Tom’s disappearance and what happened just now. Let’s go watch the playback.”

“Yeah…” Steve said as if the life had been sucked from his body. We started of walking out of the nave but by the time we got to the doors it felt as though we were sprinting. We couldn’t get out of that church any faster. Steve cued up the playback first looking a few minutes prior to see what pushed me. The camera seemed to be covered by a shadowy figure. It didn’t have a set of distinguished shoulders but looked like something was draped over a person and then put the whole thing out of focus and transparent.

“This view is no good. There is something obstructing the view. Try a different camera.” Steve changed to a different camera. The same figure appeared. This one looked slightly different. I couldn’t explain it but it was as if the figure here was slimmer. Steve changed to another one and it had the same figure but different still from the first two.

“Wait!” Pat yelled. “Zoom in on the bottom left a bit” Steve zoomed in to the bottom left. The jars of vinegar and baking soda were bubbling.

“What the fuck does that mean? Is the air acidic or basic?” Steve asked.

“The fuck would I know? I’ve never seen anything like that before in my life.” I said. Suddenly I went flying in the playback and then the figure obscuring the camera disappeared along with whatever pushed me. And the bubbling stopped.

“What the shit was that? These feeds were all corrupted.” I said annoyed.

“It’s not my fucking fault. The cameras are all hard wired to the computers.” Steve  yelled back.

“Whatever. Just find Tom. Pat we are going back in,” I said.

“Fuck off. The Jesus statue didn’t want your fucking head on a pike.” Pat replied.

“You signed up for this,” i joked quoting ghostbusters. “We’re paying you aren’t we?”

“Fuck you and your ghostbusters quote. I’m not going back in there.” Pat yelled.

“Come on. I need my medium by my side.” I reasoned.

“You never fucking believed in the supernatural much less my abilities.” Pat replied.

“Tonight i have become a believer. Please come back in with me.” I begged.

“Fuck!” Pat yelled. That was a yes and thank fuck, I didn’t want to go in there by myself.
